Junior Secondary News

Here we are at the pointy end of the school term. There is lots going on in the last couple of weeks of Term 4. Students will be very busy right now completing assessment for all of their units. Now is definitely not the time to ease off the hard work. Students need to finish strong and put in their very best effort. A lot of assessments will be due at the end of this week however, curriculum work will continue in classes and it is important that students understand this.

Behaviour Expectations

Year 10 and 11 students finish their schooling at the end of this week. Naturally, this brings an atmosphere that the end of the school year is near. This is a 10-week term and the school rules and expectations will remain right until the end for those students continuing to attend school. Students will be expected to continue to uphold the core values of respect, responsibility and engagement until the school year ends. The school will maintain their high standards for all rules – including phone usage right up until the end of the term.

Absence from School

I understand that some families make the decision to head off on early holidays at this time of the year. If this is the case for you it is important that you communicate with the office and your child’s teachers to ensure all assessment is complete and up to date. Please let the office know promptly if you intend for your child to miss any school days.

Uniform

Standards for uniform remain the same as they do all year. Over the last few weeks incorrect shoes have been making their way into the school. The uniform expectations are that shoes are completely black. Students will be issued with detentions if they do not wear the appropriate uniform.

I understand that in some cases students may have outgrown their shoes over the year and there is a reluctance to purchase new shoes so close to the end of the year. If purchasing correct shoes is not something that can occur before the school year recommences please write an email or note requesting a uniform pass for the remainder of the year. This will be issued by the year level Deputy Principal. This is only something we feel comfortable doing under special circumstances at this time of the year.

Eligible students are invited to participate in the annual Incentive Day celebrating their positive behaviour and effort in the classroom over the year. This day is for those students who have received any combination of 2 gold, silver or bronze behaviour and effort certificates over the year. We believe that these efforts should be rewarded and many fun activities are available for these students on this day. We are able to pay for these activities thanks to the P&C’s continued support.

Students who are not eligible to participate in this day will be in classrooms completing curriculum-based work.
