Canteen convenor and volunteers required

We are seeking a part-time Level 2 or 3 Retail Manager (dependent upon qualifications) under the Retail Operations Stream of the Award.

Relevant Award: Parents’ and Citizens’ Associations Award – State 2016 (Award)

The Canteen Convenor is responsible for the efficient and professional operation of the Canteen including financial and operational management. You will be required to assist, direct and support Canteen workers and volunteers.

Your duties and required skills as Canteen Convenor will include but will not be limited to the following:

Ensuring that the canteen operates in a safe and hygienic environment and that good quality food is prepared and served each day in a consistent manner at particular times;
Ordering stock and maintaining stock levels;
Money handling/banking and customer service;
Ensuring adequate equipment is available and operational for providing canteen services;
Liaising with students, teachers and volunteers in a cheerful and welcoming manner.
Preparing rosters and breaks and attracting volunteers;
Ordering stock and maintaining stock levels;
Being responsible for invoicing, billing, and charging;
Maintaining correct records;
Overseeing everyday workplace health and safety practices and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures;
Supervising employees at lower levels including training, coordinating work flows, checking progress and resolving problems;
Assisting in the recruitment and selection of lower classified employees and/or volunteers.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

A current Blue Card and an ability to work around children;
Relevant qualifications and/or experience relating to the position;
An understanding of food handling procedures and the Smart Choices strategy;
An ability to supervise and coordinate others in a friendly and professional manner;
Basic financial management skills;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;

Volunteers needed

Our friendly Canteen team are in need of volunteers who are able to help prepare fresh and delicious food for our students and staff. No previous hospitality experience is required, but a volunteer Blue Card is a must. Volunteers are welcome to help out for a couple of hours or stay for the day, with all assistance greatly appreciated. To volunteer, please contact our Canteen Convenor on 4945 0119.

Temporary Cleaners required

Temporary cleaning hours available until 12 December 2025:

1 x 38hrs per week cleaner (5 days)

1 x 8 hour per week cleaner (1 day)

If you are interested in these temporary hours at our school, please email a copy of your resume to our Business Manager Nicole Jolley - njoll4@eq.edu.au by Thursday 15th June. Hours include 2 shifts per day (hours range from 0500 - 0900 morning work then 1400 to 1800 afternoon work). Resumes may also be dropped into our school Administration Office. A Working with Children Blue Card and a Criminal History Check must be completed BEFORE employment commences. If further information is required, please phone our Administration Office on 4945 0121.

Uniform donations wanted

Do you have any pre-loved school uniforms or out-grown black school shoes in good condition? We would greatly appreciate any donations to our second-hand uniform supply. Items can be dropped off at our Administration Office.
