Opportunities available after course completion
We have a large number of students completing their White Card accreditation this term at school.
Completing this course allows our students to undertake work experience in the school holidays as well as jobs in the Construction Industry.
Our Senior Schooling Officer Mrs Bernie Porter said our students who completed the course today were highly praised by the trainer for their engagement with the course material and respect shown during the duration. Well done to you all!
Exploring future career paths
Our seniors have linked in with industry professionals across a range of careers this month at school.
We had representatives from commodities companies BHP Group Limited and Glencore speak with our students about their various apprenticeship programs. Glencore Queensland Engineering Coordinator Training and Development, Jarryd Townsend, also shared hot tips about writing resumes, aptitude tests and application processes to help our students set themselves apart from their competitors when applying for jobs.
Sophie from 4CYTE Pathology visited our Year 11 and 12 Certificate II and III Health Care Assistance students yesterday providing valuable information on the role of a phlebotomist - a professional responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing. A Phlebotomist's role is crucial in diagnosing diseases and conditions through laboratory analysis of blood samples. Sophie described to students what a typical day involves from obtaining blood samples, ensuring their safe delivery to laboratories, and interacting with patients.
