From Our Classrooms

More than a meal enjoyed on cafe excursion

On Thursday 27th March, a group of students, teachers and teacher aides went on an excursion to Little Vintage Café in Proserpine. Our students were able to use many skills they had learnt in the classroom especially their math skills to calculate what they could order from the menu to make sure they stayed within their budget. Their communication skills and manners to order their food from the lovely café staff were wonderful. All students and staff had so much fun travelling on the bus, eating great food, and generally enjoying each other’s company whilst honing life skills. Our students are looking forward to their next excursion already!

Year 10 Business Enterprise

Our Year 10 Business Enterprise students have been working hard to bring their ideas to life! They have established business ideas, sourced products, developed advertising materials, and set up their stalls ready for business. The market stalls will be running for three weeks, after which students will close down their businesses as part of the full business cycle experience. Students can support the ventures from Monday to Thursday in the C/D Block walkway. EFTPOS is available (minimum $5 spend).

Year 11 Aquatics and Marine Adventure

Despite the overcast skies on the last Wednesday of Term 1, our Year 11 Aquatic Practices and Marine Science students set off on an unforgettable Ocean Rafting adventure around the stunning Whitsunday Islands. The day was filled with exploration, discovery, and a bit of adventure!

Our first stop: snorkelling in the beautiful waters at Hazlewood Island. Our students had the opportunity to swim among vibrant fish, coral gardens, and the fascinating marine life, including graceful stingrays and curious turtles. It was a true lesson in the beauty of our oceans and the incredible ecosystems they support.

After working up an appetite, it was time for a well-deserved break. We anchored on the pristine Whitehaven Beach for a delicious lunch and a bit of fun playing around in the perfect waters of Whitehaven with classmates.

The journey continued with a short but enjoyable walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout, where our students were greeted with panoramic views of the stunning inlet and picturesque Whitehaven Beach. A light sprinkle of rain didn’t dampen spirits, it only added to the charm of the day!

A huge thank you to Ocean Rafting and our staff for making this incredible experience possible. The day was a perfect mix of education, adventure, and relaxation, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the first term.

Kindergarten kids enjoy visit from our students

Our Year 10 Early Childhood students completed their first of four visits to C&K Proserpine Kindergarten. Students are using the visits to observe children playing and examine how different play environments are set up.

When they arrived, the kindergarten students were very excited to have ‘big school kids’ visiting and were very eager to show off all the things they love doing at kindergarten. Games of tiggy, hide and seek, as well as duck-duck goose were soon taking place. It was wonderful to see our high school students actively engaging in the different play areas and having conversations with the children. We are looking forward to our next visit in Week 4.
