Textbooks inspire young learners in PNG

Four pallets of school textbooks have been generously donated by our school to be shared amongst schools and library learning centres in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The textbooks cover a variety of subjects including Maths, English, Science, Humanities and Sports.
Thank you to our Science and Maths Teacher Mr Andrew Jolley for organising the books in preparation for transport and to Halmar Food Industries and business owner Mr Ian Chow from the Chow Foundation for organising their transportation. We are sure they will be a welcome addition in the communities.

Year 12s inspired by Brisbane Law and Justice tour

A group of our Year 12 students engaged with an enriching, real-world learning experience to tour and view areas of law-making this week. Our students enjoyed guided tours through Parliament House and Government House in Brisbane where they met with our local Member for Whitsunday Ms Amanda Camm MP. Our students then enjoyed a History Australia guided crime tour walk in the city and a tour of the Brisbane Supreme and District Courts where they had the opportunity to run a mock court. They also enjoyed personalised tours at the Queensland University of Technology exploring many of the different faculties.
Thank you to our Acting Head of Department Humanities Ms Brigette Foot and Teacher Mrs Jacqui Watson for providing this inspiring opportunity for our students.

Year 11 Aquatics and Marine rafting adventure

1.png
Despite the overcast skies on the last Wednesday of Term 1, our Year 11 Aquatic Practices and Marine Science students set off on an unforgettable Ocean Rafting adventure around the stunning Whitsunday Islands. The day was filled with exploration, discovery, and a bit of adventure!
Their first stop: snorkelling in the beautiful waters at Hazlewood Island. Our students had the opportunity to swim among vibrant fish, coral gardens, and the fascinating marine life, including graceful stingrays and curious turtles. It was a true lesson in the beauty of our oceans and the incredible ecosystems they support.
After working up an appetite, it was time for a well-deserved break. The boats anchored on the pristine Whitehaven Beach for our students to enjoy a delicious lunch, surrounded by the breathtaking views of white sand and turquoise waters. A bit of fun playing around in the perfect waters of Whitehaven, watching the wilflife swimming around our students feet and chilling out with classmates.
The journey continued with a short but enjoyable walk to the Hill Inlet Lookout, where our students were greeted with panoramic views of the stunning inlet and picturesque Whitehaven Beach. A light sprinkle of rain didn’t dampen spirits, it only added to the charm of the day!
A huge thank you to Ocean Rafting for making this incredible experience possible. The day was a perfect mix of education, adventure, and relaxation, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the first term.
