Allegra inspired at Young Historians Workshop
Our Premier's Anzac Prize recipient and Year 12 student Allegra Bradley, attended a 4-day Young Historians Workshop, hosted by the State Library of Queensland during the school holidays.
The aim of the workshop was to assist students' research of their chosen soldiers, as well as preparing a collection of preserved items from the First World War supported by research. These collections were then presented at a formal event on Friday 17th January, to the Honourable Sam O’Connor MP, Acting Minister for Education and the Art, Major General Stephen Day DSC AM, President of RSL Queensland, Vicki McDonald AM FALIA, State Librarian and CEO of State Library of Queensland and many other important dignitaries.

Allegra had the privilege to participate in the White Gloves Experience expertly delivered by the State Library of Queensland allowing participants to handle artefacts from WWI, including personal diaries and letters, photos, medals, artillery shells, and uniforms. The group explored significant sites across Brisbane, such as ANZAC Square and Brisbane City Hall, and the ANZAC Gallery at the Brisbane Museum where a German Tank, Mephisto, is on display.
Allegra is also raising funds for Australian veteran charity, Mates4Mates. To donate, scan the QR code or click the following link - https://www.supportmates4mates.org/fundraisers/allegrabradley/qld-premier--s-prize-anzac-tour-2025-346
Abbie and Archer accept medical invitation
The duo met some of the team during their visit to Ayr last year and were invited to take part in hands-on activities in the QIMR education lab including tours to the Mosquito Lab and Scientific Services.
Thank you to the QIMR team at Brisbane Hospital for inspiring our students about the many opportunities available to them in the medical field.
National Youth Science Forum inspires Year 12 trio
Our Year 12 students Isabella De Brincat, Thalia Foster and Archer Philipson travelled to Brisbane early last month to broaden their understanding of study and career options available to them in the STEM world at the National Youth Science Forum.
Archer recommended students interested in STEM attend future NYSF events, with the trio invited to more STEM hubs across major Australian capital cities this year and abroad in London.
"It was amazing to connect with like-minded people and industry professionals from diffferent fields," he said.
Thank you to the Rotary Airlie Beach and the Rotary Club of Proserpine for your support of our students to attend this incredible event!
