Principal Perspective
Welcome Back!
Welcome to the beginning of an exciting school year in 2025! I hope everyone had a productive break and is now ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead. This year, we have a wide range of learning, extracurricular, and leadership activities available for students to engage with. I have encouraged students on assembly to challenge themselves across these three areas throughout the year, starting Term 1!
A warm welcome to all Year 7 students and new students across all year levels joining us in 2025. Our school fosters a safe and supportive environment, and we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition to Proserpine State High School. I encourage parents to reach out if we can further support your child with the start of the new school year.
I extend my gratitude to the entire school community for your patience and cooperation during the recent weather disruptions in our first week back. Although we had to postpone our Leadership Induction Ceremony, I am pleased to announce that it has been rescheduled for Monday, 10th February.
While our school experienced some interruptions, I extend my thoughts and best wishes to the school communities in North Queensland that have been adversely affected by recent flooding. We wish them a speedy recovery and a smooth return to school for their students.
Positive Culture Day
We started the school year with Positive Culture Day, emphasising our House spirit and the strong traditions of our Care Group structure. Fostering a sense of belonging and connection among our students remains a priority, and welcoming new students into their House is an integral part of this occasion. Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities through our House Cup Program, enhancing both their engagement and school spirit.

School Communication
As Principal, I advocate for proactive communication between home and school, encouraging parents and students to share ideas that can enhance our school community. Whether it’s addressing concerns, celebrating achievements, or discussing school matters, I invite you to connect with us through face-to-face appointments, phone calls, or emails to the appropriate staff members. For general inquiries, please reach out to principal@proserpineshs.eq.edu.au or contact our school Administration Office at 4945 0111 for assistance. Other communication options include QParents or the SZ app.
Parents and caregivers, I urge you to introduce yourselves to your child’s teacher early this term and share any specific needs your child may have. Your partnership in enhancing their learning outcomes through open communication is invaluable and greatly appreciated. Senior eating area extention
We pass on our gratitude to our Parents and Citizens Association for their generous contribution to have our Senior Eating Area extended over the Christmas school holiday period.
The extension is a terrific addition to the senior area for our students who are enjoying the extra space to eat lunch and socialise with their friends.
Outstanding Student Achievements
I would like to highlight some recent student achievements we have celebrated. Through the commitment of our Senior School Team, teachers, and support staff, we are proud to announce a 100% QCE completion rate for the graduating class of 2024. This achievement reflects the dedication and perseverance of our students and staff working together.
Australia Day Awards
Finally, a massive congratulations to all members of our school Seagrass Theatre and Music Company on receiving the Australia Day Arts and Cultural Award. Our school community is immensely proud of your achievements and the recognition of your outstanding production of 'Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. I am sure audience members would agree that the performances were spectacular. What is even more impressive is that every element of the production was led by students. Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.
